Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, afforded me a terrific education which led to earning a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. After earning my undergraduate degree, I immediately enrolled in the University of New Haven where I obtained a MBA in International Business. It was during the end of graduate school that I began to work as a Spanish adjunct lecturer, handling a few courses each semester. I learned a great deal from this position, and while serving in this capacity I began to formulate ideas about what leads to true learning rather than rote learning.True learning occurs when students determine their own personal path and teachers help clear the way for them. I make a great effort to match lessons to individual learning paths. This enhances the student's ability to absorb information rather than just tuck it away to answer test questions. Some of the paths I help students navigate include English, grammar and mechanics, and Spanish 1, 2, and 3.Other facts about me: I get a kick out of refereeing soccer matches as well as helping out with my daughter's dance lessons. She also participates in swimming which keeps us busy at the pool. I love hanging out with her.
